This is a complete bed, no boxspring or foundation needed. The mattress sits on a series of tightly-spaced, solid, flat, rigid, unmoving slats that run from the head of the bed to the foot. Slats on a platform bed are spaced about 2 1/2 inches apart. This allows for adequate air circulation under the mattress while providing sufficient support for all types of mattresses.
